Why Bath?

In April 2011 we began to sense that God was stirring the ground and that change was afoot. God soon confirmed this and it became clear that God was calling us to spread our wings and consider planting a church. The next questions were where? And when?

Flic was born in Bath and grew up in and around the area. Ever since we got married and I visited the area to see family I fell in love with the city and the people. Therefore Bath was always going to be on the possible list of locations to go and plant a church. We visited other cities around the country but our hearts were always looking back to Bath. Through a number of prophetic words, amazing God coincidences and many answers to prayer, God confirmed to us during a visit to Bath in August 2011, that our hearts were in line with His and that He was calling us to come, build and establish a church with Him in Bath.

As we prayed about timing, God reminded me through the story of Joshua the significance of seven years as an expression of completeness. It was then that I realised that July 2012 would represent 7 years of Flic living in Nottingham and it would also represent 7 years for me being in full-time church leadership. It was at this point we felt God affirming that our time in Nottingham was complete and that the unfolding of the next chapter was imminent.

We then became part of Leicester City Vineyard for a year, after coming off the pastoral staff at Trent Vineyard in July 2011 on the journey towards planting. This was a process of training and gaining further experience before coming down to Bath in July 2012 to plant Bath & Avon Vineyard.

God continues to assemble an amazing team and we continue to be excited as others connect and hear about our plans. Already it seems that God is building something!
